The faculty and students from the Departments of English at Shoolini University formed a literature association called “Belletristic: Shoolini Loves Literature Society” during the hazardous time of Covid-19. The aim of this society is to bring people together with the help of literature, to inculcate the love of literature amongst the young and the old, and to revive the passion for classics of all time. Belletristic has been making optimum use of technology and organising a lot of online curricular and co- curricular activities which have not just helped students pursue their academic goals but have also engaged them enough to cope with the stressful Covid-19 times.
Belletristic activities began with a big bang, a literary bonanza. It was a nine-day virtual International Literature Seminar organised from 15 th to 23rd May, where 40 delegates from five different countries presented their papers. The main theme of the seminar was, “A Century in Retrospect: Literary Signposts and Watersheds of the Last Hundred Years.” The sessions were chaired by senior academicians, and the basic idea was to avoid heavy theoretical jargon and get ‘Back to our Basics’ (BOB, which became the slogan adopted by the society for all its future endeavours).
The next event was a virtual farewell for the outgoing batch of the English Department of Shoolini University in which the students showcased their talents through song, dance, and poetry as they bade farewell to their seniors. Belletristic has also been organising a Friday date every week for all literature lovers, inviting different speakers who share their insights on different topics and make learning an interesting and enjoyable experience. The series began with an interactive session with an exceptional writer, Mona Verma, who instilled in the students the attributes to become a successful creative writer. Harpreet Dhiman held the audience enthralled with her views on the tales of Akbar-Birbal and the Panchatantra. Natasha Williams delivered an illuminating talk on Shakespeare.
Along with the teaching faculty, two students, Ritika Tomar and Snehanjali Panicker have been engaged in these events and host the Belletristic social media pages. Newly-admitted students are also involved in these activities.
Prof. Manju Jaidka, Head of the Department said “The faculty and students of the department are very keen to promote the love of literature far and wide, bringing people together with the help of literature, and inculcating in the younger generation a familiarity with immortal literary classics. With this aim we have joined hands to form this Literature Society, Belletristic, that meets every Friday over a literary ‘Guftagoo’. The enthusiasm is unbounded and our spirits are high.” She spoke of the upcoming events of Belletristic: Shoolini Loves Literature Society which include Detective fiction, Creative writing, Children’s literature, and so much more. Mrs Jaidka also shared that views for each event is up by 4000-5000 on all social media platforms.
शूलिनी विश्वविद्यालय में साहित्य संघ का गठन
सोलन, 15 जुलाई शूलिनी विश्वविद्यालय में अंग्रेजी विभाग की फैकल्टी और छात्रों ने मिलकर कोविदि -19 के मुश्किल समय के दौरान “बेलेटिस्टिक: शूलिनी लव्स लिटरेचर सोसायटी” नामक एक साहित्य संघ का गठन किया। इस का उद्देश्य साहित्य की मदद से समाज के सभी वर्गों के लोगों को एक साथ लाना है, और सभी समय के साहित्य के लिए जुनून को पुनर्जीवित करना है।
Belletristic साहित्य संघ तकनीकी का उतम उपयोग करके और बहुत सारे ऑनलाइन पाठयक्रम और सह-पाठयक्रम गतिविधियों का आयोजन कर रहा है, जिन्होंने न केवल छात्रों को अपने शैक्षणिक लक्ष्यों को आगे बढ़ाने में मदद की है, बल्कि तनावपूर्ण कोविद समय का सामना करने के लिए उन्हें पर्याप्त रूप से संलग्न किया है।
