A knowledge sharing session on the topic “Cyber crimes surge amidst lockdown” was organised by the School of Law, Shoolini University on Friday.
Mr Sandeep Dhawal, Superintendent of Police, Cyber Crimes, Police Headquarters, Shimla, delivered a lecture on the subject. He shared his experiences on Cyber Investigations involving Data theft, Bank Frauds, hacking and other most common cyber-related crimes.
Mr Dhawal shared numerous tips on how to avoid identity thefts, how to make a secure password and what immediate steps can be taken in case a person suffers cyber-attack. He shared the help line number of the HP Cybercrime Police, 155260, which can be immediately used by any victim of cybercrime. He warned the students from sharing any unwanted or unauthorised information pertaining to bank details, credit cards or replying to unscrupulous calls. All advertisement available on internet to catch the attention of possible cybercrime victim must be avoided, he added.
Dr. Nandan Sharma, HOD, School of Law said, “the expert’s views will motivate students and enhance their knowledge regarding such kinds of social evils and our focus is to make students aware regarding social issues and solution for the same” he said and added that the School of Law is trying to organise more sessions in the future as well.”
