With two patents granted recently by the Indian Patent Office (IPO), the patent granting authority in India, the tally of those granted to the Shoolini University has gone up to 25.
Vice Chancellor Prof P K Khosla said it was a wonderful achievement for a university which is just a decade old. He said the faculty members and students of Shoolini University have filed a total of 415 patents since its inception. These have been filed in different categories like design, drugs, and products. Filing of about 20-25 more patents is also in the pipeline in the near future.
Prof Khosla said Shoolini University was among the three top institutions in the country to have filed about 180 patents last year.
He said the University would now like to focus on grant of patents. He pointed out that there are three stages to get patent granted. The first stage is filing a patent or registration for patent. After a cooling off period of 18 months, the second stage starts in the form of Publication of patent in the research journals to check whether patent claim is true or false. After publication, the third stage starts which is ‘Request for Examination’ before the patent is finally granted. The entire procedure takes about three years since the date of filing. Out of the total patents filed till now, 175 have been ‘published’ while 11 were in ‘Request of examination’ stage.
Prof Khosla said Shoolini university has its own Intellectual property right (IPR) cell. The cell is dedicated to encourage, protect, manage and commercialize Intellectual Property such as Patent, Copyright, Trademark, etc. generated through the university.
He said that the two patents which were granted recently are design patents category for ‘Solar Water Heater’ and ‘Solar-Nanomaterial Energy Storage’.
Shoolini university has achieved another milestone as its H-Index, which is based on the quality of research, has moved up to 55. It is not only the highest among the universities in the state but is among the best in the region.
H-Index reflects the output based on the number of research publications and the total number of citations of those works. There are certain quantifiable parameters to define the quality of research and H-Index is one of them.
An H-index 55 indicates that 55 research papers of the University scholars have been cited 55 times or more. The quality of every research paper is counted upon two factors: the first one being the impact related to the journal in which the paper is published and the second being the relevancy of the paper for the scientific society. These researches are very relevant for scientific as well as general society.
भारतीय पेटेंट कार्यालय (आईपीओ), जो कि भारत में पेटेंट देते है, के द्वारा हाल ही में शूलिनी विश्वविद्यालय को दो पेटेंट दिए गये हैं , जिससे विश्वविद्यालय को दी गई इनकी संख्या 25 हो गई है।
कुलपति प्रोफेसर पी के खोसला ने कहा कि यह विश्वविद्यालय के लिए एक अद्भुत उपलब्धि है जो सिर्फ एक दशक पुराना है। उन्होंने कहा कि शूलिनी विश्वविद्यालय की स्थापना के बाद से फैकल्टी और छात्रों ने अब तक कुल 415 पेटेंट दायर किए हैं। इन्हें विभिन्न श्रेणियों जैसे डिजाइन, ड्रग्स और उत्पादों में दायर किया गया है। निकट भविष्य में लगभग 20-25 और पेटेंट दाखिल किए जाने है।
प्रो खोसला ने कहा कि शूलिनी विश्वविद्यालय देश के उन तीन शीर्ष संस्थानों में शामिल है, जिन्होंने पिछले साल लगभग 180 पेटेंट दायर किए थे। उन्होंने कहा कि विश्वविद्यालय अब पेटेंट के अनुदान पर ध्यान देना चाहेगा। उन्होंने बताया कि पेटेंट कराने के लिए तीन चरण हैं। पहला चरण पेटेंट के लिए पेटेंट या पंजीकरण दाखिल करना । 18 महीने की अवधि के बाद, शोध पत्रिकाओं में पेटेंट के प्रकाशन के रूप में दूसरा चरण शुरू होता है ताकि यह पता लगाया जा सके कि पेटेंट का दावा सही है या नहीं। प्रकाशन के बाद, तीसरा चरण शुरू होता है जो अंत में दिए गए पेटेंट से पहले 'परीक्षा के लिए अनुरोध' है। पेटेंट पंजीकरण दाखिल करने की तारीख से पूरी प्रक्रिया में लगभग तीन साल का समय लगता हैं। शूलिनी विश्वविद्यालय द्वारा अब तक दायर कुल पेटेंट में से 175 को 'प्रकाशित' किया गया है जबकि 11 'परीक्षा के अनुरोध' के चरण में है।
प्रो खोसला ने कहा कि शूलिनी विश्वविद्यालय का अपना बौद्धिक संपदा अधिकार (IPR) सेल है। यह सेल विश्वविद्यालय के माध्यम से उत्पन्न बौद्धिक संपदा जैसे पेटेंट, कॉपीराइट, ट्रेडमार्क आदि को प्रोत्साहित करने, उसके संरक्षण, प्रबंधन और व्यावसायीकरण करने के लिए समर्पित है। उन्होंने कहा कि हाल ही में जो दो पेटेंट दिए गए हैं वो 'सोलर वाटर हीटर ’और सोलर-नैनोमीटर एनर्जी स्टोरेज’ के लिए डिजाइन पेटेंट श्रेणी के हैं।
शूलिनी विश्वविद्यालय ने अपने एच-इंडेक्स के रूप में एक और मील का पत्थर हासिल किया है, जो अनुसंधान की गुणवत्ता पर आधारित है,वो अब 55 तक बढ़ गया है। यह न केवल राज्य में विश्वविद्यालयों के बीच सबसे अधिक है, बल्कि इस क्षेत्र में भी सर्वश्रेष्ठ है। एच-इंडेक्स शोध प्रकाशनों की संख्या और उन कार्यों का हवाला या उद्घरण की कुल संख्या के आधार पर आउटपुट को दर्शाता है। अनुसंधान की गुणवत्ता को परिभाषित करने के लिए कुछ मात्रात्मक पैरामीटर हैं और एच-इंडेक्स उनमें से एक है। एच-इंडेक्स 55 बताता है कि विश्वविद्यालय के शोधकर्ताओं के 55 शोध पत्रों का 55 बार या उससे अधिक बार उल्लेख किया गया है। प्रत्येक शोध पत्र की गुणवत्ता को दो कारकों में गिना जाता है: पहला है संबंधित पत्रिका का प्रभाव जिसमें पेपर प्रकाशित हुआ है और दूसरा वैज्ञानिक समाज के लिए पेपर की प्रासंगिकता। ये शोध वैज्ञानिकों के साथ-साथ सामान्य समाज के लिए भी बहुत उपयोगी हैं।
