Resident Dean at Harvard University and a feminist anthropologist, Dr. Andrea Wright, interacted with faculty and staff of Shoolini University, in the Yogananda Guru series virtual webinar organised by Shoolini University. She spoke about knowledge, her research and the experiences of female migrant labourers from the Northeast Region of India.
The webinar was hosted by Pro VC Prof. Atul Khosla and Dean, Students Welfare, Ms. Poonam Nanda, who recalled Dr. Wright’s stay at the Shoolini Campus.
Dr. Andrea talked about her time during her field research in India, and her forthcoming book, “Tired Hands: Race, Gender and Labour in Contemporary India.” She further stated about the pressures, mobility, and development in the northeast region, especially Manipur and Nagaland.
Talking about her time during her fieldwork in India, she met multiple student organisations and exchanged knowledge and understood that community engagement work in research is very valuable and how you become a good scholar to the society. In her findings, she also talked about Community Fault lines and Moral Policing and concluded the talk by spreading more awareness for the society and said that if you care, you must vote.
